Winn Cottage

Winn cottage is reserved for staff housing during the summer camps from mid-June to late July.  However, from seasonal opening of the water system in March through closing in November Winn cottage is avaiable for weekend and week-long rentals for individuals, couples, and families.   So, if you would like access to a mountain cabin ... here is your chance ... details below.

To book a rental, review the calendar at the bottom of the page to select from open dates.  Then send a rental request to winnrentals@craigsprings.org.  Once the rental is confirmed you will receive a deposit request.   The deposit will be 20% of the total and is generally non-refundable, with adequate notice it is transferable.

NOTES:  Need to add a pic of the cottage for the header and pics of each room in the body of the page.  Also setup a page for rental requests ... maybe using the registration system or a calendar system that allow user to see available dates and request a booking.

Still considering pricing and discounts ... note there is a 2 bedroom cabin on Craigs Cteek just outside of New Castle that is $200-300 per night, $1050 to 2450 per week depending on season.

Winn Cottage Rental

All reservations can start and end on any day of the week but must include all consecutive Friday & Saturday nights. Maximum rental two weeks long. Overnight rentals are only available on the day of rental. Other facilities are generally available for overnight rentals.  Note: all rentals are subject to Virginia Lodging Tax.

Weekend rentals (2-nights) are $250
additional nights @ $100 / night

Weeklong rentals (7 nights) are $700
additional nights @ $75 / night

Two Week rentals (14 nights) are $1200

 The cottage has a large living room with wood stove and mini-split for heat and air; three bedrooms, small kitchen, bathroom, plus one additional room and front porch.   Currently the second story is not prepared for use.  The larger bedroom has a queen bed, the smaller bedrooms have double beds.  There is also a "cot" sized bed in the extra room. Currently, you will need to provide your own linens, blankets, towels, etc. ... bedding may become part of the rental in the near future.

The small kitchen is outfitted with basic equipment including plates, bowls, silverware, etc.  as well as cooking equipment.  A coffee maker is provided (not keurig???), plus .......

Firewood is available, but if you aren't familar with wood stove usage please ask for instructions.  If the swimming pool is open (generally late May through early September) use of the pool in included.   Use of other facilities/services are similar to restrictions by "residents" (residents own property within the Craig Springs boundaries).  Excepts are as follows.  Winn rentals have access to the Frieplace room, and can dispose of trash in the camp trash trailer.   Use of other other facilities such as the picnic shelter, campfire circles, ball court, ball field, mini-golf, etc are only limited by scheduled retreat usage by groups using the camp at the same time.   

Note about trails usage:  while the tails are always pen for ussage, during the fall is hunting season and so any excursions into woods should include blaze orange clothing.   A limited number of annual hunting permits are available each year, but if you want daily hunting privledges just during your rental ask for details.

Currently we have minimal housekeeping staff so all users are required to leave the cottage clean and ready for the next users, cleaning supplies are provided.
